After 15 years in Stockholm, we took the leap: we left the big city behind and moved to the countryside – to Skåne, more precisely, to our very own farm: Kvarnviks Gård. A heartfelt project that had been growing for many months and has now become reality.
From the very first visit, we knew: this is our place. The old main house from 1907, the lovingly renovated barn, the wide-open fields all around – everything felt instantly right. And even though the road here wasn’t without its bumps – with renovations, the stress of selling in Stockholm, and lots of logistics – we would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Saying Goodbye to Stockholm
Stockholm was our home for a long time – full of memories, friends, and daily routines. It’s where our children spent their first, nearly three years of life. The place where we lived and shaped our little family. Saying goodbye wasn’t easy. But we both felt: the time was right for something new. For more space, more nature, and more independence.
A Farm with History – and a Future
Kvarnviks Gård is more than just a place to live. It’s a place to dream, grow, and create. The large main house, with about 220 m² of living space, offers plenty of room for the four of us – and for many ideas. The converted barn, originally built in 1923 and modernized in 2015, will eventually host holiday guests. Our goal is to create a retreat for people who want to experience the authentic southern Sweden – simple, genuine, and full of heart.
What Lies Ahead
In the coming months, we’ll be furnishing the guest rooms, finalizing the website (www.kvarnviksgard.com), and building up our small vacation rental business. At the same time, we want to bring our own ideas to life on the farm – maybe a vegetable garden, maybe a small farm shop, who knows? There are plenty of possibilities. And most of all, we look forward to sharing this place with others – be it friends, family, or guests from around the world.
Moving to Kvarnviks Gård is not the end of a chapter for us, but the beginning of a new one. And we are very excited to see where this path will lead us.
