Last week, we built our very first playground here at Kvarnviks Gård – for Henri and Hauke, but also for the children who will visit us during the summer.
The climbing tower is from Wickey, a German playground manufacturer, and was a birthday gift from the grandparents. Originally, we thought we’d put it together bit by bit in our spare time – but it ended up taking nearly a full week. That wasn’t quite the plan.
As often happens, we may have overestimated ourselves a little. The build was more complicated than expected – the manual had a few errors and unclear instructions. We had to improvise in several places and figure things out on our own.

Henri and Hauke were right there with us, helping enthusiastically – mixing concrete, pushing the wheelbarrow, and watching with excitement as the tower slowly took shape.
Now it’s finished: a sturdy wooden tower with a slide, climbing wall, built-in sandbox, and climbing grips on the side. It fits in nicely with the rest of the farm and might just be the start of a little “kids’ world” here.
Maybe Henri and Hauke will make new friends here this summer. Maybe the tower will just be a great place to play, climb, and take a break for years to come.
But for now, what matters most: it’s standing. And being put to very good use. Thank you: Grandma, grandma and granddad! 🙂
